The Student Guidebook is intended to be an aid to the Quercus package.
Students will be expected to use the Student Guidebook as they progress
through the Workbooks.
The Student Guidebook aims to build on the work covered in the Quercus
Workbooks. A summary of the knowledge that students should have before beginning a new Workbook is provided. After this the Workbook's contents are given, then extra discussion and examples are presented to further reinforce students' learning.
Students are then presented with a series of questions to be answered on the topics covered in the current Workbook. After these have been answered, their confidence about the topics learned in the current Workbook is ascertained. Advice is then given depending on their level of confidence.
After completing the workbook, study notes are given to summarise the topics covered and to help the students revise.
Project work is provided, allowing the student to work with experimental data,
using all the techniques learned throughout the Quercus course to explain
and draw conclusions from the data sets.
The Student Guidebook is available from the publisher, Edward Arnold. Price £12.99.
